For Contractors, Builders and Owner-Builders (You can also send this page/link to your builder, for use in estimating your project.) http://www.multi-facettedhomes.com/for_builders.htm
Bidding on New Construction: This page will give you a quick introduction and overview of working with our building system. Please contact us for added assistance we can provide to you in estimating each individual job. Builders are welcome to visit and tour some constructed Multi-Facetted Homes before performing an assembly, to view and inspect some finished homes, and obtain tips that will help your assembly day(s) go smoothly and efficiently. And all our home shell packages come with a helpful and detailed Assembly Manual, which guides you through the preparation, foundation specs and assembly process.
Panelized Home Shells, Using Natural All-Heart Redwood (framing) & Port Orford Cedar (siding/sheathing) By making your new home weather-tight on one clear day, you minimize or avoid the problems of water (rain) and weather damage to your beautiful woods. Overview Step 1. According to the architectural plans… Walls and roof panels are framed and sided in our indoor facility. (Screw-framed, SS ring shank siding nails, precision-built.) While we are constructing your building components, you will prepare the foundation, either concrete pad or post-and-pier. Then you pick up the building components from our Big Island manufacturing facility. Step 2. Wall Assembly (morning) – Each wall panel goes up in just a few minutes. In about an hour you've completed your entire wall assembly! Install the Hurricane Hardware: Step 3. Roof Assembly (afternoon) -- Lean your roof panels up against the walls, Step 4. Apply the included 30-lb roofing felt -- Weather-tight in One Day! Now you are ready to proceed with bolting, installing your doors, windows and trim package on the following day(s). Then you will construct any interior rooms, attached lanai areas, etc. on-site. Average Shell Assembly Time: (For 4 workers*, including one person with construction experience)
Post & pier foundation (on level site) or slab…………........ 3.5 days Shell assembly, incl. walls, roof system and tar paper ……. 1 day Install doors & windows, apply Trim & roofing......................... 3 days Weather Tight Home Shell .................. 7-8 Days Total
1-2 days less than for the Hale-12, for the complete shell assembly, including the foundation. 5-6 Days Total
Add 3-5 days for additional panels, trim, and building the connecting roof section. 10-12 Days Total
These assembly times are for finishing the weather-tight home shell. Then depending on your design, you will want to proceed with your interior installations (cabinets, fixtures, floors) and related finish work.
* We recommend having 5 workers (able to lift) on the afternoon when you assemble your roof panels.
What’s included from MF Homes, and what will I need to supply? MFH supplies the panelized exterior shell, vinyl windows, exterior doors, roofing felt and possibly some additional materials for decks, stairs, railings, room additions, some interior doors, etc.. Please contact us for an actual itemized MFH material list for each job, for use in preparing your bid.
Additional Info Each Hale-6, Hale-8 or Hale-12 goes up in just one day. For larger combination homes, allow one day for the assembly of each Hale portion of your building project. If you have any rectangular
room connection sections, the walls will come pre-made for you; add one
to two days for the on-site framing of each connecting roof section. Multi-Facetted Homes, Inc. HCR-3 Box 11106, Keaau, HI 96749
